We are in the early stages of establishing a working relationship with the Da Vinci Studio School and Skills Centre Stevenage, which will be of mutual benefit to both Nemco and the School.
The School which covers careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) for 14 to 19 year olds, is an ideal partner for us to offer work experience or apprenticeships in electronics and engineering. The students are given the opportunity to learn in a hands on environment, which helps them to see the connections between the subject they are learning and their application to the real world.
Our HR Manager visited the School and Skills Centre recently and was very impressed with the way the students learn in a unique, business focussed environment. We have also had a visit to Nemco from a group of students who are studying for a Level 3 BTec in Engineering/Electronics. They wanted to see how we handle design for manufacture and our pick and place machines in our Surface Mount Department.
Discussions are now taking place for us the take in work placement students in early 2016, with a view to a full apprenticeship programme when the students finish their full time courses in May/June 2016.
